Assist staff in running security checkpoints, performing searches for weapons and controlled substances, providing needed resources to clients, and facilitating mealtimes.
Training:
Safety volunteers are paired with a staff member throughout their shift and trained on the following:
- Shelter safety standards
- 2-way radio usage
- Metal detector wand
- Contacting emergency services
- Performing security checks
- Items not allowed in the shelter
- Available client resources
Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong communication skills
- De-escalation experience (preferred)
- Pass background check
