Our goal is to collaborate with community members to create a working/learning relationship and increase interest in dentistry, as well as educating on what we do here at the YUGM Dental Clinic and the Mission.
Tuesday- hygienist observation
Wednesday- dentist and hygienist observation
Thursday- dentist and hygienist observation
Friday- hygienist observation
Areas of observation:
- Oral inspection.
- How to record vitals.
- Radiographs.
- Taking intra-oral and extra-oral photographs.
- Fluoride treatments.
- Patient education.
- Periodontal therapies.
- Preoperative and postoperative instructions.
- Placement of topical anesthetics.
- Placement and removal of rubber dam.
- Prep and placement of restorations.
- Sterilization of equipment and disinfection of operatories.
- Taking impressions and/or bite registration for: diagnostic and opposing models, occlusal guards, and temporary indirect restorations such as temporary crowns.
- Fabrication, cementation, and removal of temporary crowns or temporary bridges.
- Placing a temporary filling (as zinc oxide-eugenol).
- Pack and medicate extraction areas.
- Removal of sutures.
- And additional procedures performed within a professional dental setting.
If you are wanting to do a full shift, please sign up for both the morning and afternoon shift for that day.
