Dental Shadow: Morning Shift

Are you interested in learning more about the dental field and want to get some exposure to what that entails?

Are you a dental student who needs observation hours? 

Our goal is to collaborate with community members to create a working/learning relationship and increase interest in dentistry, as well as educating on what we do here at the YUGM Dental Clinic and the Mission.

Areas of observation:

• Oral inspection.
• How to record vitals.
• Radiographs.
• Taking intra-oral and extra-oral photographs.
• Fluoride treatments.
• Patient education.
• Periodontal therapies.
• Preoperative and postoperative instructions.
• Placement of topical anesthetics.
• Placement and removal of rubber dam.
• Prep and placement of restorations.
• Sterilization of equipment and disinfection of operatories.
• Taking impressions and/or bite registration for:  diagnostic and opposing models, occlusal guards, and temporary indirect restorations such as temporary crowns.
• Fabrication, cementation, and removal of temporary crowns or temporary bridges.
• Placing a temporary filling (as zinc oxide-eugenol).
• Pack and medicate extraction areas.
• Removal of sutures.
• And additional procedures performed within a professional dental setting.

If you are wanting to do a full shift, please sign up for both the morning and afternoon shift for that day.
